Yeah, maybe it was a memory issue.  The laptop has 256MB of RAM and
meets all the recommended specs for the Open Circulation Edition 3. 
Still when you run KDE, as Xandros  does, every little counts.

At first, Xandros OCE v3 gave my ThinkPad the L 80 L 80 L 80 ... boot
error.  Then I took the install CD to another computer and made boot
and root floppy disks.  Several minutes after beginning the fabled
"four-click install", it then froze-up with package corruption
message.

By comparison, I installed Mepis (also having KDE & based on Debian)
with relative ease.  The only thing I had to configure was a PCM Wi-Fi
card.  Ah the joys of automatic hardware detection.  Way to go,
Coders.  The pizza is on it's way.
