[ale] Building and running evolution on RHEL 4

not familiar with Evolution itself, just some general & vague suggestions
here :
'rpm -e' will leave config files behind (systemwide & personal). so, maybe
your custom Evolution is reading from some old left-over config which points
to an now non-existing data-server?
