[ale] $&*@ing gmail

In general I think that the current reply-to-list setup is just fine. I
think that it promotes community discussion. Just like you wouldn't join
an IRC channel and then private start private messaging people with
questions.

But, when it comes to something like this subject (gmail), I think that
it should be between the two parties only. I especially don't think it
deserves multiple threads. Today alone, discounting this one, there are
nine threads about it; albeit, most of those are created by clients
breaking previous threads. At least, that is what I see at
http://news.gmane.org/gmane.org.user-groups.ale .

I certainly did not start this thread to bring up the heated reply-to
discussion. I was merely trying to illustrate that this list has turned
from somewhat relative Linux discussion to "who has gmail?" over the
past couple weeks.

One other thing. I pointed out the wiki, and created the topic,
_because_ it gets used so little. All it takes is a little prodding and
it can become a more valuable resource.

"All governments suffer a recurring problem: Power attracts pathological personalities. It is not that power corrupts but that it is magnetic to the corruptible. Such people have a tendency to become drunk on violence, a condition to which they are quickly addicted."
