I have to give my kudos to Fry's too. I went there thrice this weekend. I
bought a new car stereo which I took home, hooked it up, and got no sound. I
google'd the problem and turned out that I needed an amplifier by-pass
harnass. I went back, bought the harnass, but the plug didn't fit. The guy
at the Mobile Installation dept was out to lunch for 15 minutes, so I went
to Best Buy. The guy at BB then questioned me and talking about that I
shouldn't be "second guessing". Frustrated with him, I told him to come out
and look at my amp for himself. He simply replied, "Oh yea, those 95-96
Explorer models have those special harnasses." Now that he feels stupid, he
explained that the only way to get my stereo working would be to wire from
the HU to the speakers which he said would cost alot, $45. That's not too
bad, and the wait time is about 1.5 hours, yet he said that he couldn't do
it today because it was short day. It's about 1 PM, and I believe they close
early like at 7 PM. Yet he said any other day is fine. So I figure he's just
lazy, so I went back to Fry's to get a second opinion as the guy should be
now back from lunch.
In no more than 1.5 minutes, the guy at Fry's Mobile Installation told me
that I needed to wire the blue/white wire to the amp. The problem was that
the factory amp wasn't getting any power. He just said, take the power
antenna wire and connect it to the amp which should do the trick.
I went back to my truck, works great. So the sales guy as well as mobile
installation tech at Fry's knew what they were doing, unlike BB. I just save
$45+speaker wires, and 1.5+ hours of my time.
It's a little off the topic of this group, but definitely will shop again at
Fry's. I'm going back to get me 200 GB drive and ATI x800 card (last visit
it was sold out). Again, 3 visits in one weekend :)

Subject: [ale] Fry's has the best return policy!
I've go to share this. First of all, I've now found out that the lcd
analog monitor I purchased will not work with the computer I purchase,
because of the aforementioned dvd-d connector issue.
I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with Sony trying to find out why
there's no mention of this requirement on the box, documentation or Sony
website for this particular computer.
So, I just got off the phone with Fry's. They have told me that even
though I've already mailed off the rebate for the monitor (including the
required cardboard cut off the box) that I can return the monitor for
a full refund, less the rebate. This is pretty amazing, I don't know of
any other shop that would do this.
I'm headed out today or tomorrow and they have certainly insured the
fact that I'll be buying a digital monitor from them when I return this
one. :)
