Just means the company can put Cxoffice on there for MSOffice or run OOo.
Thanks for posting that since my mind was in it's usual state. Blank...
It is still a huge switch since HP is like IBM and lends more exposure. Goes
a long way when you can say that your killer new workstation came from Dell,
IBM, or HP and blows away what they (whoever) have. :)
I've had an ITS guy initiate a discussion on moving applications from MS
software to Linux after a sysadmin meeting last Friday where I got to explain
what my responsibilities are. Our campus sysadmin meetings are moving around
campus this year by being hosted by each sysadmin's department so we can learn
about each other's operations. I was able to plug the ectasy of Fly-by-Day's
Linux based firewall's and the joy of using the Dell RH9 based workstation I
use for modelling that blows away our SGIs. I talked about VMware and also
about not having to constantly patch SGIs or Linux machines. Plugged our VPN
and how all I had to do with Windows was remind people to update their
antivirus. Got him interested since ITS here deals with lots of MS licensing
issues and security flaws,
