[ale] New install of SuSE

I guess I'll chime in here. I have been using Debian since almost the
first release. Before that I was using HJ Liu's root-boot 2 floppy
installation and download individual binaries (started with Linux kernel
0.12 circa 1991) I decided to install Suse 8.2 on a new system I put in a
few weeks back. I'm pleased with the installation. It went in without a
hitch. I'm running MySql, Tomcat, Apache, PhpMyAdmin and lots else on that
system. Yast took time to get used to but it's a bunch better than
Debian's dselect. I never was able to get dselect to do anything for me,
but apt-get is just dandy. I'm not ready to abandon Debian, but Suse is
OK. I have to deal with RedHat systems on a daily basis. The company uses
RedHat. Personally I'd never install RedHat. I can do without dependency
hell. I never did get apt-get working for it either. RH is a pita to the
n'th degree, IMHO.

Good thing we've got lots of different distros so everyone can be happy. 8)

Jim.
