Never had any experience with PGSQL.  IMNSHO, regardless of the database, 
pre-processing and aggregate data is going to be your friend.  Yes, Oracle 
*can* query zillions or rows...but why make it work harder than it has to?

Just becaue fortune 100 companies do it, don't make it right, or smart. ;)
