My favorite thing to spice up a SUSE install is to go to
http://www.ximian.com and pick up the Red-Carpet rpms.  I install them
and then subscribe to the suse channel.  I now have access to all the
rpms that ship with SUSE Professional.  Including the elusive Java RPMS
and the RealPlayer RPM not available throught the SUSE ftp install.  Red
Carpet has a search feature and also checks dependencies.  Ther doesn't
seem to be an slocate package on SUSE 9, but I believe findutils-locate
will do what your looking for.  There is a patch rpm available.
