I'll admit it, I haven't done it myself (though I intend to), but presenting
maps generated from data has been one of the more actively discussed uses of
Scalable Vector Graphics over the past couple of years. The svg-developers
group on Yahoo Groups is very active & helpful.
I'll also admit that I haven't been able to turn a couple of cool examples via
Google that I know I've seen.
