[ale] Copying from vi into another terminal

What vi?  There are several, the most common vim and nvi.

I've noticed that command line vim works ok by the normal X windows 
right click, drag, release, and left click to copy.  However gvim 
doesn't.  The docs seem to indicate it should but it doesn't I'm betting 
it is a bug.
