I don't know if this is taboo to everyone else, but I just use Quanta
Plus (http://quanta.sourceforge.net). Does just about everything you
have mentioned. I use it mostly for PHP development and it has worked
great for me. I just had to turn off the autocomplete functionality as
it bogged down terribly on scripts with lots of classes and functions.
I have also used the Gnome-native Anjuta (http://anjuta.sourceforge.net)
...It does a great job as well plus is more suited for C/C++ development.
