Okay, bad form to reply to myself, but here's what I've found so far:
Watching the maillog during fetching mail, the beeps happen just
before a "reject=451 4.1.8 Domain of sender address yumi at gaemat.com
does not resolve" appears. This appears to be generated from the
"ruleset=check_mail" function in sendmail.cf. The rule in
"check_mail" that appears to be getting tripped is:
R<TEMP> $* $#error $@ 4.1.8 $: "451 Domain of sender
address " $&f " does not resolve"
Not being a sendmail guru, where should I look next? What does this
line in sendmail.cf actually mean?
TIA!
