Go for Diectv.
And get Tivo. Add network card to it.
all sort of nice things start to happen.
It runs Linux :)

Have you tried DirecTV yet? It has much better prices then
cable, and I believe you can even get programming on
satalite that you cant get on cable (used to be you could
not get SCIFi on cable for instance, although I believe thats
not the case anymore).
All the krap about it going out during rainstorms is mostly
FUD, if that was the reason you did not want to try satalite.

I finally broke down and setup cable TV and cable modem access. The
digital cable system has ADVERTISING on every menu! Whenever you hit
guide, or menu, or whatever, there are ads everywhere.
Also, the cable modem speeds are 256/128 for ~$40.00 per month! What's
up with that! Cox Cable in Macon had much better service (> 1Mbps) for
$40.00 per month. Heck, even BS DSL was a better deal than this.
Danged monopolies!
