linuxprinting.org is _THE_ info source to use. I snagged an HP Business
Inkjet 1100 from Office depot for about $250. It has 2 paper trays, a
jet direct card and an auto duplexer (2 sided printing is so nice to
force the kids to use!). Followed directions on linuxprinting.org for
setting up the PPD for use with CUPS and now I can send print jobs to
one of many different printers that select high speed, high quality,
single sided only, double sided. And it is FAST!!

Nearly all of the HP printers work as well as, if not better than the
same printer on Winders. Ditto for the Epsons. Some of the Epson
printers with gimp-print perform substantially better than they do under
Blunders.
