[ale] building a new box

All,

My wife's Linux box appear to have blown something on the mobo, so we've gotten 
a new mobo/case/PS, and are trying to put together a new box, with a new 40G HD. 
  However, I cannot seem to get the blasted thing to boot from floppy or CD to 
install RH 8.0.  Every attempt shows an error reading from floppy, and no 
activity at all on the CDROM drive.  I've checked the BIOS to make sure it is 
attempting to boot off the various devices.  I've tested the boot.img floppy on 
another machine to make sure it works, but no joy.

Any suggestions?
