Well, sorta. But only sorta.
I am now running 2.4.20-13 and 2.4.20-9 is still on the machine
as a backup. 
But how many here are running a 2.3 or a 2.2 kernel? Or earlier?
I suspect there are many good reasons for updating the kernel.
That I don't happen to understand the issues involved (or really
want to) doesn't deny their existance. 

But all this is nearly trivial.
The issue for me is _not_ supporting Microsoft. I firmly believe
that not all monopolies are bad. I also believe that Microsoft is
a BAD monopoly.
Therefore I am left with two choices: support the development of
Linux by purchasing the OS and other software; or move to Apple.

My wife, who works at Emory, is forced into the Apple family and
I have seen enough to know I want no part of it. For starters,
the browser of choice seems to be IE! The OS still crashes too often
and way too much important data is withheld or well hidden from view.
And the "cute factor" is enough to make me want to throw up in the
corner.  On the plus side, _any_ USB/firewire device can be plugged
into a Mac and it will work right out of the box; if not, a
simple driver install fixes things.  The other reason for staying
away from Apple is cost. And then there is the keyboard issue: the
ones made by Apple are horrible. (But then I use the old-style
IBM "buckling spring" keyboard. <grin>)
