What does "showmount -e 192.168.2.5" report?

Have you checked your iptables settings? (/etc/sysconfig/iptables)? Try
disabling the firewall (service iptables stop) and THEN running
"showmount" or "mount".

Check /var/log/messages on the server (192.168.2.8).
"tail -f /var/log/messages &" is your friend!
