Good point! I would keep the video stuff wired (via a cheap-o USB
Webcam), and just use the x10 stuff for remote controls. I've been
using the CM11A(serial port to X11 wall wart) interface for a while now
with good success. It's well supported in linux, and there are some
_really_ cool projects out on the web that were accomplished using it.

Also, smarthome tends to be _more expensive_ than necessary (I have a
stack of their catalogs in my bathroom - I've done my homework). I
would check out x10.com [even as obnoxious as the website is] they have
some good components for very good prices. BE WARNED THOUGH: _Don't_
use your real email address. They spam like crazy (at least daily).
Use a faux or spam specific email address if you buy from them.

Regards,
CB

| Robert,
|
| Most people are not aware that X10 type cameras can be monitored by
anyone with a receiver. People have been known to get really upset when
they find out they have been broadcasting private family life the local
neighborhood.
