Ok, this could be absolute coincidence; but I like to think that it's
strategic timing -

While watching the History channel tonight (just after 10pm), I saw a
Microsoft commercial showing how "great" .NET is and how it will link
"supply chains with vendors as if they 'had read our minds' ". No
sooner had I let out a, "Pffffttt, yeah right!", did an IBM commercial
follow -

CEO: "What is it?"

Salesguy: "It's a business reality detector..."

CEO: "Does it work?"

Salesguy: "Try it..."

CEO: "Margaret, are we on schedule with the xyz project?"

Margaret: "Everything is going as planned sir" Machine buzzes -
RRRNNNNTTTT

CEO: "Carter, what do you think?"

Carter: "I don't think, I'm just a yes man...!" Machine dings - ding
ding ding bleep

CEO: "IT WORKS!"

COMMERCIAL FADAWAY - "THERE ARE NO BUSINESS REALITY DETECTORS"

THERE ARE IBM self healing servers (or something to that effect - I
might be mixing my IBM commercials up here).

The SHEER timing of this commercial is what really struck me, here. I
don't think there could have been a better SPOT for IBM to put this
commercial in than after the Microsoft (we can do anything and solve all
your problems transparently) plot ^H^H^H^H spot.

Anyway, just thought I'd share ...
- -CB
