[ale] win xp with suse 8.1 corrected

I had this exact problem on a Dell Latitude laptop.  The CDROM hardware 
was the problem.  Didn't like the CD's from SuSE.  I switched the 
hardware with my own Dell laptop CD and had no problems from then on.  
The install went beautifully.  Hope you can switch CDROMs.
