Generally, when you attempt to compile a source from a tar file, you'll 
need to have various libraries that are necessary to build this code. 
These libraries are usually found in the *-dev*rpm files.  So, for 
example, if you're trying to compile something uses X, you'll likely 
need the XFree86*dev*rpm(s) installed.

I don't use it, but it works fine here.  Does it immediately crash, or 
when you attempt a particular thing?
