[ale] RH8 "Temporary failure in name resolution"

nscd just caches credentials (passwd/usernames), hostnames, DNS entries,
etc (take a look at nscd.conf). "nsswitch.conf" on the other hand tells
the appropriate libc routines which name services (ldap, files, nis, etc.)
to look in.
