[ale] CNet Technology external modem

Hello,

Anyone have success in configuring the CNet CN5614XR external modem?

I typically use Zoom modems but I got a good deal on this (under
$50.00) and can't get it to configure under RedHat 8.  RH doesn't
automagically find it on boot up as it does other modems and if it is
detected by modem query in kppp, no modem commands are available.

As the computer is for a friend of mine I would like to get this
resolved as quickly as I can.

Anyone have experience with this modem and get it working?
