[ale] Kernel v2.6.0 and IPTables

Chris;
To be honest, I don't know. I usually don't run much in the way of modules - if I want a feature I compile it into the kernel, if I don't I leave it out. My production machines are normally pretty stable in terms of needs.
What I am wondering is if anyone is using IP-Tables with the new kernel, or if not what they are using in lieu of. I have not been able to find it in the .config file prior to compiling. Perhaps I have just missed it
Is anyone using IPTables or some other kernel based IP/port/protocol filtering software? Does this capability exist in the new kernel, or will we have to go to external sources for this functionality?
Bob

I've upgraded my module-init-tools but I have to do a modprobe each time
I need a driver.
In order to mount vfat, I have to execute 'modprobe vfat' before I even
attempt the mount.
I did convert my modules.conf to modprobe.dep. Is there something else
I forgot to do?
