[ale] December ALE NW meeting FOOD!!

Good news!  I've been informed that Fly-by-Day Consulting will provide 
pizza for the meeting!!!  Bob is going to put his firewall technology 
into the mix via his laptop for the evening.  He is also bringing a 
crossover cable and possibly some medium length ethernet cables.

My current plan is continue the Gentoo install this evening but download 
and burn some the ClusterKnoppix distros that were posted about today.  
I'll see if I can get a simple cluster running at home this evening.  
That way I'll have more possibilities of success tomorrow night.

The meeting is quite informal and can break up into subgroups if 
wanted/needed.  No classes are in session so I don't think we will have 
any problems with finding the Clendinin classrooms being available.  
Just look for the noise and food when you come.  If anyone would like to 
post a link to some test codes for running on OpenMosix, just in case we 
get something going, then please do.  I am shooting for  the ultimate 
goal of a 16 node cluster before the evening is over.

Current equipment available:
1 (16 port) 10/100 unmanaged switch Linksys
30 PII Dell GX1's
1 monitor/keyboard/mouse
Several ethernet cables

I do have concerns about UPS power but for just the evening I think some 
power strips and extension cords will have to do.  I have one UPS I 
might could spare but am not sure I want to shut down a couple of 
servers to get it.  If anyone wants to permanently donate a UPS, PII or 
better PCs to include, RAM for the PCs I've got, then, of course, I 
would accept it. ;-)
