Just open a terminal and type "ftp ftp.cc.gatech.edu".  If your IP
address won't resolve, you will get an error message saying so, along
with your IP address.  If you get a login prompt, then try to login as
anonymous.

If your IP address won't resolve, how you correct it depends on how you
connect.  If you're behind a corporate firewall, you will need to talk
to your network administrator, and try to convince him or her to create
a reverse DNS record.  If you're using dialup or cable/DSL at home, you
can try a dynamic DNS service, like http://www.dyndns.org/ .
