Subject: [LPGa Announce] UNIVERSITY IT PROFESSOR WANTED
Date: Mon, 11 Aug 2003 13:24:31 -0400
This message is for those of you on this list either who are university
professors in the IT area yourself or who know a university professor
who might help us on an extremely important issue.
As an IT professional, you already know how dangerous our new voting
machines in Georgia are, especially since they have zero physical audit
trail. You know how easy and inevitable it is, regardless of any
security measures in place, that these machines or the humans working
with them will facilitate fraudulent election results. With no physical
audit trail, we will never be able to prove it, much less even be aware
that it happened. And with millions, even billions of dollars at stake
in many elections in Georgia, the incentive is going to be irresistible.
A group of concerned citizens, including many Libertarian activists, is
working on proving this to the Georgia Secretary of State. As NOT being
IT professionals, our government leaders are totally blind to what's
extremely obvious to us. Meanwhile, the press in Georgia, for the most
part, has been equally blind. So blind have they all been, that they
refuse to accept the analysis of in-state professionals and out-of-state
academics.
So now, we're looking for, you guessed it, an in-state academic or two,
who can analyze the system, including the source code that we have. We
all already know the result of the analysis, even though we do indeed
want an honest and objective analysis.
With this in-state academic resource (YOU!) explaining to the Secretary
of State and local press the tremendous dangers of the current system
with no physical audit trail, we hope to once and for all get the point
through to our government leaders so that they return or change the
current system, replacing it with one with a physical audit trail that
can be consulted when the inevitable occurs.
PLEASE EMAIL ME DIRECTLY IF YOU CAN ASSIST.
Sincerely,
Helmut Forren, Ph.D.E.E.
Chairman, Libertarian Party of Georgia
