[ale] [OT] How come I can't purchase this domain?

So, I'm thinking it's some obscure registrar that hasn't released the
record... Is this possible?  Can I call my domain registrar and have
them "take" this domain if it's expired?

I don't know what to do...   I'm temped to call the registrar and ask
about it, but then they'll know that I want the domain and they could
"squat" it.

Anyone have any insight?
