It was pretty much decided that pretty much any compactflash or smartmedia
card reader works with Linux. Floppies and cds of course work too. I think
someone said theres a memory stick reader too, but I havent seen one. So
based upon that, almost all cameras "work" with Linux.
A fair number of cameras work with Linux connecting directly to your USB port,
but this is slower, regardless of your OS, so its a better idea to just
choose your camera based upon its camera-like capabilities after verifying it
uses one of the above-mentioned media types and just transfer your pictures
via the card as if it were a floppy disk.
