[ale] uw imapd - deleted messages return

I've on going problem using the UW IMAP server.  For some users, deleted 
messages keep coming back as unread.  When I look at the server, I 
notice the users in question have two IMAP processes running.  

I assume they're fighting over the state of mailboxes.

Is there any option or configuration I can set to help deal with this?
