I haven't personally, but I know of several `UNIX people'
who've gotten TiBooks and rave about them. I've been tempted enough
to try and convince (to no avail so far) work to get me a TiBook
(because we need an OSX box in house for testing anyhow of course :).
As for package management, for open source stuff there's fink
which is based on the Debian dpkg and apt-get.
