actually the Fed has said nothing of the kind regarding the economy.   In fact Greenspan used the "R" word before any politicians did (Recession).  The fact that they haven't lowered interest rates doesnt mean they think everything is OK.  In fact it means they still think the economy is in the shitter.  There is only a little bit of room they have left to play with, and they are saving that because there is no certainty as to what the potential war with Iraq will bring as well as the limited possibility of a depression.  

If the Fed thought the economy was 'rosy' Greenspan would have been raising interest rates, not leaving them at 30 year lows.
