[ale] [OT] hesitates every 4 seconds

I ran into this one a few years ago, and it turned out
to be the TCP/IP bindings. I didn't have any other
computers hooked up or networked, so I disabled TCP/IP
in the network "bindings" pane, and all was fixed.
