First, I will bring my laptop with SuSE 8.0 on it next meeting for those
interested. We also need to make sure everyone know the President and
officers of the new LUG at KSU.
Next, we have had requests for a tutorial on "What the hell is a shell?!!"
I'd be happy to talk about that but I think my work schedule will
prevent me from doing research on it. It would be better if someone who
really knew shells could do the tutorial. We have several people
attending who really are very new to Linux. So this is what I would
like us to do:
Have a 5-10 minute introduction of LUG at KSU.
Have a 30 minute tutorial on shell usage in Linux from the basics of how
you use it to what you use it for.
Have a 30 minute open discussion (moderated) on current install problems
or questions on Linux usage.
Have a 30 minute demonstration of the usual stuff done to a new Linux
machine to get it ready for normal use after an initial install. A
handout checklist would be great for people to take home.
Have the usual hangon'til midnight discussions until you can't stand it
or your significant other calls.
Opinions and volunteers?
Thanks,
Dow
