[ale] Samba

Progress.  I did have the "/24" style, though I had tried the other 
earlier without total success.  Changing the to one of the ways you 
suggested, I now get:

C:\>net view \\mercury
System error 5 has occurred.

Access is denied.

testparm says everything is OK.
