Geoffrey,
Thanks again for the info.
Say I want to put both just /home on /dev/hda1.
After running mke2fs -j on the partition, do I simply
create a temporary mount point for it, copy the
contents of /home to this mount point, update
/etc/fstab to mount hda1 to /home on the next boot, mv
the old /home to /home_old (for safety), and then
remount /dev/hda1 to /home?
If so, what's the safest way to copy the full contents
of /home? Can I just do something like:
tar -cvf - /home | (cd /tempmnt; tar -xvfp -)
?
Thanks!
John
