well...
actually Mr. Torvalds (the Sr.) WAS an admitted (proud, actually) communist who
spent a fair amount of time "training" (re: learning to spread it) in Moscow and
certainly impressed his impassioned beliefs on the young Linus (you might want
to read "Just for Fun" some time).
from a purely academic standpoint there is a strong argument to be made that
Linux is indeed a "communist plot". this does not mean it is a bad thing and
certainly the M$ Sith lords were attempting to scare rather than educate.
the REALLY interesting question in all this is whether Linux is the first time
in history that a product/service developed under a communist/socialist model
has proven superior to its capitalist equivalent (this coming from someone who's
~libertarian no less;-)...
obviously the opinions expressed here are purely my own & do not necessarily
reflect those of my employer (disclaimer, disclaimer; blah, blah...).

Was sitting here watching "Spartacus" for the 10,000th time and got to
thinking about when Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer called Linux and Open
Source and Communist Plot.
I submit that Linux is not a Communist plot but is, in fact, a Slave
Revolt. Bill Gates is the Emperor of Rome and Linus Torvalds is Spartacus.
