I believe it is that you've only *licensed* the software, and so they
control the conditions under which you can use it.
Of course, the other side believes that a license can only be granted
under a contract, with signatures and consideration, so such a thing
is a legal fiction.
That's why I have my 6yo click the EULA buttons when installing software,
since minors cannot legally sign contracts.
