[ale] backup your rpm db

There are several rpm databases that are used. They are kept in
/var/lib/rpm.
The package db3-utils provides database tools for things like dump and
restore. There are html pages in
/usr/share/doc/db3-utils-<version>/utility that mostly make up for the
lack on man pages.
Most of the time, just simply copying the entire directory to a tape, or
zip, will suffice. The db-utils give tools that are for more
sophisticated stuff.
