This is an old, old song.

What the IT people are really saying is:

1.  I don't know crap about Linux or the money it could save my company.
I only care about keeping my job as easy as possible.  We've been doing
it this way for XX years and we are not about to change.

2.  Having to call someone for help is admitting that I'm not the
indispensable computer genius I've made myself out to be.

Far too many IT People fail to realize that they are not expected to
know all the answers.  They are, however, expected to take the
individual initiative to find them.

Yeah, right.  I was having trouble with mgetty and caller ID, and none
of the 
suggestions I was getting seemed to help (Thanks for the suggestions,
though,
guys!)
so I downloaded the source and looked at it and BINGO, found and solved
my
problem
