Hi Ken,
Make sure the directory w/ your .shtml files has "Includes" permissions.
See info on .htpaccess or "Options" statement usage in httpd.conf files.

Subject: [ale] Server Side includes
Hi there,
I added this to my httpd.conf and I still can't get SSI's working.
AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .shtml
AddType text/html shtml
AddHandler server-parsed .shtml
Is there something I forgot. As far as I know you don't have to compile
apache with anything special...
I am still looking into it but maybe someone has experience with this. I
have set up apache a couple of times on variuos different machines and never
had a problem... *shrug*
Thanks
Ken

But I don't want to go among mad people,
Alice remarked.
Oh, you can't help that, said the Cat:
we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
How do you know I'm mad? said Alice.
You must be, said the Cat,
or you wouldn't have come here.
