[ale] anyone else running any DPT hardware ?..........

Greetings !

I am using a DPT-RS3W/UR system in a Raid5 configuration, which uses a 
PM2144UW SmartCache IV Adapter.

My question pertains to the DPT-RS3W Mini-tower: the cabinet [not drive] 
lights remain on after bootup. The manual says that this indicates bad 
drives but this has been the case for over a year starting from when the 
system was first installed with new IBM scsi drives. I have noticed no 
problem with system functionality.

But.......with the lights on all the time I guess I won't be able to 
tell when a drive fails, hence the need to rectify this problem.

If only one light was on I'd just try to pull that drive and thereby 
induce a rebuild, and sequentially rebuild all the drives, but with all 
drive lights on, I am apprehensive about trying this. Yes, I do have a 
tape backup of the entire rig.

Also the DPT Raid system software shows no problems.

DPT was acquired by Adaptec right after I acquired the system and I have 
been on their website. No help there.

BTW, RedHat6.1.
