[ale] RedHat 7.2 Power Off Doesn't :-(

Man, there must be something going around.  My Mandrake 8.1 shuts off
beautifully as long as I use their kernel.  When I try to compile my
own it won't power off.  I thought that maybe I misconfigured
something, but now I'm thinking that maybe they have some custom patch
in their kernel that isn't in the stock kernel.  With so many of us
having problems, there must be more to it that us all being morons.  I
hope.
