[ale] java 1.2.2/multiple glibc versions

After months of coaxing, begging and just a bit of
threatening, I finally talked my company into allowing
a subset of the developers in my group to run RH 7.2
instead of Win2k. What a great week ;-).

I've run up against a wall, however, that may threaten
my victory. A project I was recently put on requires
running Netscape with the 1.2.2 plugin. however, the
only 1.2.2 plugin I can find for linux (at
blackdown.org) requires glibc 2.1. RH 7.2 is packaged
with glibc 2.2. I went ahead and installed it anyway
and the applets loaded, but I noticed some pretty
buggy behavior. I'm hoping this is caused by glibc
conflicts and not the plugin itself.

My question is, is it possible to install two versions
of glibc on one system? Will it cause major problems?

If so, do any of you java programmers out there know
of a 1.2.2 plugin for glibc 2.2?

Thanks,

John
