I have it working on my shares. So I can share with you as much as I know
how too. I had some problems with getting mine to work. I still get some
errors in my syslog file also. It seem Linux thinks W2K is attacking it.
Problems I had:
1. Windows Machine was the gateway. It did have a firewall setup. That
firewall blocked a lot of stuff. Removed it and it worked.
2. I had to add the W2K machine to the /etc/hosts.allow file.
3. I had to configure my Linux Machines Firewall to stop dropping IP packets
from the W2K machine. (Linux Firewall config.?)
4. I was able to remove the netbui protocol.
5. I needed the TCP/IP , File sharing and client for windows.
6. Also W2K has some settings that stop the shares.
7. When you mount W2K directories on the Linux machine you have to provide a
valid username and password. I didn't like doing that.

P.S. I hope that helps?!?!?!?!? There is a settings in the W2K reg. That
is killer. I changed it once and only system Admins could log on to the
system. Wish I could remember what it was.

Subject: [ale] Mounting win 2000 drives with Samba
I'm new to samba, so bear with me. I finally talked
my company into allowing some Linux installs (woohoo!)
and am getting my bearings as to what I can and can't
do.
When trying to mount drives that run Win2000, I'm
having problems. I can mount NT 4 drives all day, but
when I try to mount 2000 drives it does nothing. No
interesting error messages either.
Notes of interest:
Using encrypted passwords.
Using gnomba as a gui client.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
John
