Don't know. Just got this thru campus mail and thought of ALE. Maybe
the notice was emailed before the page was updated. You can call
personnel at 770-423-6030 and ask about it.

By the way, this campus is heavily Novell and Microsoft oriented toward
serving faculty and staff. We have Solaris running student email. HP
running Administrative services like registration and fees. Groupwise
on Novell for groupware to faculty and staff. We are traditionally high
on hours low on pay with lots of diversity. But, we have a great group
of people in ITS that know their stuff and appreciate the benefits the
rest of the Georgia pays for. ;-)
NT and Win2K are in EdTech. It's a big university now with lots of
tech. We need more IT people but the budget doesn't have new positions
written in. My position is thru a federal NIH grant by a single
chemistry professor so I am not part of ITS. I get more freedom but I
still have more than I can do with lot's of SGI's to manage and
biochemical research to do.

The ITS team had a great leader under Dr. Steve Scherer. He was a math
prof way back that took advantage of a program to get a CSIS dept
going. After a while the ITS dept evolved and he took charge of the
management. This is all years ago. He just retired after 30 years of
service. It is big shoes to fill...

I have no idea about requirements, just wanted to pass along the
opportunity to those on ALE who are qualified. Plus I am tired of MS
and Novell. Our Groupwise seems more trouble than it's worth. The
people who run it are very good but the system just can't seem to be
reliable enough for a critical email system. I am tired of MS
applications and trying to deal with the idiosyncracies of the stuff.
So maybe if a good ALE'R took over and promoted Linux we wouldn't have
such problems. By the way, our current CIO is Dr. Randy Hinds. He is a
real driver/manager that gets stuff done and has alot of experience,
hates MS, and wants more bandwidth. I like him.
