Also,

   I'd make sure that telnet was on. Use chkconfig to find out:

/sbin/chkconfig --list | grep telnet

You can also do this with ftp (just to be sure). It might wu-ftpd
if you installed it. You can also check iptables and ipchains as
well. You can turn them off using chkconfig as well.
