There is clearly a vocal group that truly enjoys discussing the vagaries
of economics and politics as related to the technology sector of
American business.

Some have decidedly passionate, strongly held views on how things are
and should be.

I would like to remind the participants of this severely off topic
discussion of several situations:

1. This is a Linux enthusiasts mailing list. While there is a community
of general geeks here of many persuasions, the central, commonality is
the use and enthusiasm surround the use of the Linux kernel and its
affiliated applications.

2. There are numerous forums for the discussion of politics and
economics that would be much more suitable. By having a rousing
community of other people who enjoy discussing politics and economic
theories, the process of dissecting the ills of our society from that
perspective will be greatly enhanced in that environment.

3. Other severely off topic discussions have consumed much bandwidth. It
is disconcerting that the signal to noise ratio of a focused list has
deteriorated so much in the last few days as was seen several months ago
on the topics of education, taxes and homeschooling. At that time,
numerous requests were made to please let the thread die so that the
topics can get back on track. Bitterness is not an enjoyable component
of any community. That previous escapade left a fair amount of
bitterness that has only just recently dissipated.

4. Godwin's Law has been evoked and ignored. To continue this discussion
further is a public affirmation of the participants unwillingness to be
a welcome, contributing member of this community.

5. I am personally sick of it and I don't want to have to add filters on
my ale mail again.
