[ale] Installation wierdness

[James P. Kinney III]

It's looking like the hard drive is marginal. Maxtor 30 G. The dos
format took nearly 2 hours as it had "attempting recovery of ..." a
bunch.

This POS was not under any virus protection. There are virii that can
physically damage a hard drive. I'm getting suspicious.
