On the other hand, on efnet you *do* have script kiddies taking over channels, DOS attacks on IRC servers (often, oddly enough, for the purpose of taking over channels), DOS attacks on individual users (for the purpose of stealing nicks,or just to be nasty), and IRC servers limiting who they will serve, or just plain dropping out of the network, because of the shenanigans having an IRC server exposes them to. There are reasons some of the other networks implemented things like channel ownership and nick monopolies.
Don't get me wrong, I use efnet. But it's not for everybody.
